Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), the Indian conglomerate and the global business giant Meta Platforms Inc., have announced a joint investment of ₹855 crore to offer and expand artificial intelligence (AI) services in India.

This alliance aims to expand AI adoption across Indian enterprises. A new company called Reliance Enterprise Intelligence Limited (REIL) has been formed, and the investment will be made through this novel venture.

Reliance Intelligence Limited, the 100% subsidiary of RIL, will hold 70% ownership in REIL and Facebook Overseas Holdings, the subsidiary of Meta, will have the remaining 30% stake.

The new venture was formally started on October 24, 2025. The new venture will focus on developing, marketing, and distributing enterprise-grade AI solutions in India.

Powering Enterprises with Meta’s Llama Models

Meta’s open-source Llama AI models will power the REIL, and they will be combined with Reliance’s massive enterprise reach and digital infrastructure.  They plan to launch two flagship offerings: Enterprise AI Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) – allowing organizations to customize, train, and deploy generative AI models for specific use cases, and Pre-configured AI Solutions – tailored for sectors like sales, marketing, finance, IT operations, and customer service.

Strengthening a Five-Year-Old Partnership

This partnership is based on the strategic relationship between Reliance and Meta, which started in April 2020. Facebook then invested $5.7 billion (₹43,574 crore) in Jio Platforms, which was the largest minority shareholder with a 9.99% stake.

India’s AI Market

The already hyped AI market in India is expected to grow exponentially as it is driven by demand from enterprises, startups, and government initiatives.

While this collaboration will strengthen India’s digital infrastructure, it will also showcase India as a nation ready to be a global hub for responsible AI innovation.

The partnership between Reliance–Meta is not just a financial venture. Rather, it is a common vision to strengthen Indian businesses through AI. By combining Reliance’s deep market presence with Meta’s AI expertise, the partnership would be able to redefine the entire mechanism of how enterprises harness artificial intelligence for efficiency, creativity, and growth.

The partnership between Mukesh Ambani and Mark Zuckerberg is expected to make India’s AI future brighter than ever.
