TVS Motor Company has introduced its new electric scooter, the TVS Orbiter V1, in the Indian market. As we all know, the electric vehicle market in India is growing rapidly, and every new launch brings fresh excitement for buyers. With petrol prices constantly rising, many people are now looking for a reliable and affordable electric scooter for their daily travel.

In this situation, this launch has brought huge excitement among the customers.

What makes this launch special is its starting price of just ₹49,999. At first glance, the price itself can easily attract many buyers who are planning to switch to an electric scooter. The company has mainly designed this model for people who commute within the city every day.

However, the low price also comes with a special scheme that buyers should clearly understand before making a decision.

The new TVS Orbiter V1 can be purchased in two different ways. The first option is through the Battery as a Service model, commonly called BaaS. Under this plan, customers do not need to pay the full cost of the battery at the time of purchase.

The second option allows buyers to purchase the scooter with the battery included at the full price.

Price with BaaS plan around ₹49,999
Full price including battery around ₹84,500
The price also includes the benefit of the government’s PM e-Drive Scheme incentive.

Battery and range designed for everyday use

TVS has mainly designed this scooter for city riding. It comes with a 1.8kWh battery pack which, according to the company, offers a claimed range of about 86 kilometres on a full charge.

Charging time is also fairly practical. The battery can be charged from zero to 80 percent in approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes. For people who travel daily for office, college or nearby errands, this range should be sufficient for regular urban commuting.

Practical design that suits daily riders

The scooter features a simple but practical design. It gets a long flat seat measuring around 845 mm, giving enough space for both rider and passenger. The footboard is also wide at around 290 mm, making it comfortable to place your feet and even carry small bags if needed.

One of the most useful aspects is the 34 litres under seat storage. According to the company, it is spacious enough to hold two helmets, which can be very convenient for everyday use.

The TVS Orbiter V1 also comes with several modern features that make it more technology friendly. It includes a coloured LCD instrument cluster that displays useful information along with incoming call alerts.

Through smartphone connectivity, riders can access features such as turn-by-turn navigation and battery status updates.

For safety and convenience, the scooter also includes features like crash alerts, anti-theft alerts, geo fencing, time fencing, hill hold assist and cruise control. It also supports over the air software updates.

Another option in the Orbiter lineup

The Orbiter series does not include just one model. The lineup also offers another variant called TVS Orbiter V2. This variant comes with a larger 3.1kWh battery, which provides a higher riding range compared to the V1 model. However, the price of the V2 is also higher.

Is this scooter a good choice for buyers

Because of its low starting price, the TVS Orbiter V1 can be an attractive option for people who are planning to buy their first electric scooter. For city commuters who travel short distances daily, it can be a convenient and economical option.

However, since the BaaS model involves a monthly payment for battery usage, buyers should understand the plan carefully before making a purchase. If someone plans to keep the scooter for a long time, comparing both pricing options may help in making a better decision.

In the coming months, it will be interesting to see how popular this new electric scooter becomes among Indian customers.
