Some stories make you stop and think about how deeply a person can be hurt by someone they chose to love and trust. Actress Ashu Reddy booked for cheating a UK-Based Techie, is one such case that has shaken Hyderabad in a way few controversies involving public figures have in recent memory.
Actress Ashu Reddy, known as “Junior Samantha” due to her resemblance to South star Samantha Ruth Prabhu, has been booked for allegedly cheating a UK-based techie, Y.V. Dharmendra, out of ₹9.35 crore by promising marriage over several years.
The Hyderabad Central Crime Station registered the case following a formal complaint filed by Dharmendra’s father, Yenumula Satyanarayana Murthy, a Hyderabad-origin software engineer settled in the United Kingdom.
Along with Ashu Reddy, whose full name is Venkata Ashwini Reddy Koyya, three of her family members have also been charged. Her father, Venkata Krishna Koyya; her mother, Yashoda Reddy; and her sister, Venkata Divya Reddy Koyya, have all been named in the case registered as Crime No. 78 of 2026.
How Actress Ashu Reddy Booked for Cheating a UK-Based Techie Case Actually Began

It started in 2018, in the most ordinary way possible. Dharmendra was introduced to Ashwini Reddy through mutual contacts. She was already a recognisable face in Tollywood, known to television audiences through her appearance on Bigg Boss, and she carried herself with the confidence of someone going places.
The two grew close within a short time. And then, according to the complaint, she made him a promise. She would marry him. She allegedly told him directly that his ongoing divorce was not a barrier and that she saw a real future with him. For Dharmendra, those words meant everything.

The Requests Began Quietly and Then Became Impossible to Keep Up With
Once the promise of marriage was made, the financial requests followed. There were personal expenses. There was mention of loans. There was her ambition of building a serious film career that she said needed support to take off properly.
Dharmendra gave every time, because every request came attached to a relationship he believed was genuine and a future he believed was real.
Over the years, the scale of what was allegedly being taken grew far beyond what anyone would have imagined at the beginning. Cars were purchased. Gold jewellery of approximately 5 kg was bought. A flat was arranged with Rs 1.8 crore paid as an advance.
Her sister Venkata Divya Reddy is separately accused of receiving Rs 50 lakh during this same period. By the time the family sat down to calculate the total, it came to Rs 9.35 crore.
July 2020, When Dharmendra Asked for Marriage and Got a Refusal Instead
After two years of giving without question, Dharmendra decided in July 2020 that it was time to make things official. He wanted a formal meeting between the two families, the kind that signals a wedding is genuinely being planned.
Ashu Reddy allegedly refused without a real explanation. No conversation about what had changed. No honest account of where things stood. Just a refusal, arriving after years of promises and a staggering amount of financial support. When Dharmendra asked for the money to be returned, her communication reportedly stopped entirely.
Actress Hema Mediated a Settlement, But the Cheques Were Later Taken Back
A settlement meeting was reportedly arranged with Telugu actress Hema stepping in as a mediator, trying to bring some fairness to a situation that had already caused enormous harm.
At that meeting, Ashu Reddy allegedly agreed to return Rs 70 lakh and issued blank cheques as a commitment to doing so. Those cheques were later taken back and destroyed, according to the complaint. Not a single rupee was repaid.
Her Family Reached Out Again in November 2020, and Dharmendra Came Back

Here is the part of the story that is hardest to read. After the refusal, after the failed settlement and after the cheques were taken back and torn up, Ashu Reddy’s family reportedly contacted Dharmendra again in November 2020.
They told him she had fallen into depression following the break-up and asked him to come back and consider reviving the relationship. He came back. Because love does not always know when to walk away.
Financial transactions reportedly continued between 2020 and 2025, with more money going toward property and other expenses, even during this second phase of the relationship.
November 2023, Dharmendra Sat with Her Father to Finalise Marriage Plans
In November 2023, Dharmendra sat across from Ashu Reddy’s father, Venkata Krishna Koyya, to discuss the wedding seriously. The family agreed. After five years of waiting and returning when asked, it looked like things might finally work out.
In July 2025, they backed out again. Since then, Ashu Reddy has not been in contact with Dharmendra at all. The silence from her side has been total and unbroken.
Threats Were Allegedly Issued When the Family Asked for Their Money Back
The complaint filed by Satyanarayana Murthy does not stop at the financial loss. It also alleges that when the family pressed for the return of their money and assets, threats of false cases being filed against them were issued in response. Nothing was returned. No money, no assets, no acknowledgement.
Actress Ashu Reddy Booked for Cheating a UK-Based Techie, Case Now Under Investigation
The Central Crime Station has formally registered the case, and ACB officer V. Narsimha Reddy of the economic offences wing Team-L is the investigating officer handling the matter. Financial transaction records between Ashu Reddy and the complainant have already been gathered as evidence, according to police sources.
The news that actress Ashu Reddy has been booked for cheating a UK-based techie has spread rapidly across Hyderabad, partly because Ashu Reddy is a well-known public figure and partly because the details of the case are so difficult to read without feeling something on behalf of the family involved.
Why This Case Goes Far Deeper Than the Money
Rs 9.35 crore is not a small amount. It represents years of savings, hard work and the kind of financial security that a family builds over a lifetime. Losing it the way the Dharmendra family allegedly did is a wound that does not heal quickly. But the more serious damage here is not measured in rupees.
Dharmendra gave seven years of his life to this relationship. He came back when asked. He sat with her father and talked about wedding dates. He forgave things that most people would not have forgiven once, let alone twice.
His father, Satyanarayana Murthy, who built his life through honest work as a software engineer in the UK, now finds his family at the centre of a criminal complaint and on the wrong side of an enormous financial loss.
The case of actress Ashu Reddy booked for cheating a UK-based techie is now firmly in the hands of the Hyderabad police and ultimately the courts. What those institutions decide will take time. But the years Dharmendra lost and the money his family gave, are things no verdict can fully return.
