On an evening filled with quiet strength and emotion, Guwahati stood witness to a moment that blended grief with hope. Remembering Zubeen Garg’s belief that duty must continue even in the darkest times, his wife Garima Saikia Garg announced the formation of a trust in his name, an initiative born not out of loss alone, but out of love, responsibility and purpose.
Standing alongside family members, close friends and long-time well-wishers, Garima Saikia Garg said the decision to form the trust was taken collectively, with the assurance that those who walked with Zubeen in life would continue to walk with his ideals.
Zubeen Garg Trust: Carrying Forward His Ideals

The Zubeen Garg Trust has been created to protect and nurture the values Zubeen lived by: culture, humanity and care for nature. The trust will work across Assam and beyond, supporting creative minds and community efforts that reflect his lifelong commitment to society.
Its focus areas include:
- Promotion of culture and young artists
- Social welfare initiatives
- Nature and environmental conservation
In a deeply symbolic gesture, Zubeen Garg’s newly built residence at Kharghuli, Guwahati, widely known as his dream project, has been offered in the name of the trust. The space will now serve as a centre for the social and cultural work he wished to pursue.
Garima Garg clarified that she will continue to reside in her present flat and expressed heartfelt gratitude to those who have pledged to guide and support the trust’s journey.

Guiding force, Friends and the Strength of the People
The trust will be guided by Zubeen Garg’s uncle Manoj Borthakur, along with Dr Partha Sarathi Mahanta and Gautam Sarma besides a few others. The Zubeen Garg Fan Club will actively assist in various initiatives.
Garima Garg stressed that while structured support is essential, the true strength of the trust will come from ordinary people who believe in Zubeen’s ideology and wish to keep it alive.
₹2.90 Crore Film Tax Transferred to Kalaguru Artiste Foundation

During the press interaction, Garima Garg expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma as he has already transferred ₹2.90 crore, collected as state tax from Zubeen Garg’s latest film Roi Roi Binale, to the Kalaguru Artiste Foundation as he promised so earlier. The foundation was established by Zubeen Garg himself.
She expressed appreciation for this step and also welcomed the government’s assurance regarding progress in the justice process related to Zubeen Garg’s death.
A Legacy That Refuses to Fade
The press meet was attended by Dr Palmee Borthakur, Zubeen Garg’s sister, family members, friends and numerous admirers. Their presence reflected what words often cannot: Zubeen Garg remains deeply woven into the emotional and cultural fabric of Assam.
More than a singer or filmmaker, Zubeen Garg was a voice of conscience, culture and compassion. Through the newly formed trust and the ongoing pursuit of justice, his journey continues, not in silence, but in action.
